### FSU Faces Another Setback as QB Tramell Jones Decommits

Florida State University's 2025 recruiting efforts have encountered a major setback with the decommitment of four-star quarterback Tramell Jones. The Jacksonville Mandarin senior, who initially pledged to join the Seminoles in April 2023, has decided to reopen his recruitment. This move comes amid FSU’s underwhelming 2024 season and a strong pursuit by rivals, particularly the University of Florida, which is now the favorite to secure the 6-foot-1, 200-pound talent.

This decommitment leaves the Seminoles with only 12 recruits in their 2025 class as the Early Signing Period approaches in three weeks. The absence of a blue-chip quarterback is a significant blow, but potential changes could be on the horizon.

Attention is now shifting towards Carter Smith, a four-star quarterback from Fort Myers' Bishop Verot, who recently decommitted from Michigan. Smith, currently the top uncommitted quarterback in the 2025 class, is re-evaluating his options, including a potential move to Florida State. Industry insider Steve Wiltfong has boosted FSU’s prospects, predicting they might land Smith, who is ranked as the No. 200 overall prospect and the No. 18 quarterback in the 2025 class.

Adding to the speculation, Dan Smith, Carter’s father, revealed that his son is considering an official visit to Tallahassee at the end of November. This visit could be crucial in tilting the scales in favor of the Seminoles as they seek to bolster their roster amid ongoing recruitment challenges.
