In a recent turn of events, rapper Jeezy has filed legal documents seeking primary custody of his and Jeannie Mai's young daughter amidst their ongoing divorce. Jeezy claims that Jeannie has not been adequately caring for their child and has instead delegated her care to her brother and mother.
According to the documents obtained by TMZ, Jeezy is asking the court to dismiss the current custody and parenting time arrangement that was previously agreed upon during mediation with his estranged wife. He is now requesting that their daughter be allowed to live with him on a full-time basis.
Jeezy alleges that during their separation, he initially agreed to move to the basement of their family home. However, he claims that Jeannie subsequently moved out of the residence, taking their daughter with her. He further asserts that Jeannie's extensive travel schedule is not conducive to the well-being of their child.
Furthermore, Jeezy accuses Jeannie of withholding his parenting time with their daughter for nearly two months. He believes that their child would have more stability and consistent care if he were granted primary physical custody. Therefore, he is seeking the court's intervention to enforce this request.
This development comes several months after Jeannie responded to Jeezy's previous claims of her gatekeeping their daughter. During that time, Jeannie emphasized that she had accommodated all of Jeezy's visitation requests, including over the holidays. However, she did express concerns about safety, alleging that Jeezy had unsecured firearms in his home. Jeezy vehemently denies these allegations, assuring that his child is always closely monitored and that his firearms are securely stored away from the reach of their daughter.
The custody dispute seems to be just one of the contentious issues arising from the divorce proceedings between Jeezy and Jeannie. Past allegations of infidelity have further fueled the animosity between the former couple.
As the legal battle continues, it remains to be seen how the court will weigh the arguments of both parties and determine the best interests of their young daughter.
