With the preseason coming to an end and the NFL's cutdown day looming on August 27th, the Las Vegas Raiders are under pressure to finalize their 53-man roster. One surprising potential cut on their radar is cornerback Brandon Facyson, who missed nearly all of training camp and did not participate in any preseason games.

Head coach Antonio Pierce expressed his concern about evaluating Facyson, stating, "I can't even evaluate him because we haven't had him out there. So, it's just tough, and it's put a lot of these younger corners out ahead." Facyson's absence has given opportunities to the team's younger cornerbacks to showcase their skills during the preseason and training camp, but Pierce emphasized the importance of not rushing inexperienced players onto the field.

This is not the first time Facyson has faced a similar situation. Last year, he also missed a significant portion of camp due to an injury and began the season on injured reserve. He only returned to play in three games late in December.

Considering the ongoing uncertainty with the cornerback position, Pierce admitted that the Raiders' cornerback room is still a work in progress. Responding to inquiries about potential roster moves, Pierce said, "If we can get better, then we can get better," implying that the team could be active on the waiver wire this week.

It appears likely that the Raiders will be seeking an experienced cornerback to add to their roster, at the very least for a backup role. The team aims to solidify their defensive backfield ahead of the upcoming season.

In other Raiders news, Tyreik McAllister delivered an impressive performance during the preseason, offering excitement to fans with an 81-yard punt return for a score and a 35-yard touchdown pass. McAllister's standout game may boost his chances of securing a spot on the practice squad, if not the final roster.

The Raiders' defense also showed signs of improvement in their final preseason game, with defensive linemen Charles Snowden, Byron Young, and Matthew Butler each tallying a sack. This development is particularly encouraging, as Las Vegas had failed to register a single sack in their first two exhibition games.

However, there were a few surprises as well. Defensive end Tyree Wilson did not dress for the game, despite being a seventh-round draft pick last year. While not in danger of being cut, Wilson's field time has been limited after he had a foot injury during his final year at Texas Tech.

As the Raiders head into cutdown day, tough decisions lie ahead for the coaching staff. The team will aim to strike a balance between fostering the development of young talent and adding experienced players to bolster their roster. The final composition of the Raiders' 53-man team will soon be unveiled, as they prepare for the upcoming season.
