Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve McMichael's family is optimistic as his condition has shown signs of improvement, raising hopes that he may be discharged from a Chicago-area hospital early this week. Diagnosed with ALS three years ago, McMichael was hospitalized for a urinary tract infection which later developed into an antibiotic-resistant staph infection known as MRSA. His wife, Misty McMichael, shared that Steve required a blood transfusion to combat the infection but has been getting better over the past few days. She expressed gratitude for the support and prayers, calling him a tough guy with different DNA, nicknamed "Mongo." There are hopes for McMichael to return home on Tuesday. The former defensive tackle, who was elected to the Hall of Fame this year, played a significant role in the Chicago Bears' Super Bowl XX championship team after spending 13 years with the franchise.
