In his final NFL Draft mock, CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco predicts a quarterback blitz as the top picks in this year's draft. Prisco emphasizes that his mock is a predictive one, not based on who teams should select but rather how he believes the draft will unfold.
Starting off his mock, Prisco confidently projects that the Chicago Bears will use their first overall pick to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams. This pick is seen as a straightforward choice given the Bears' need for a franchise quarterback.
However, Prisco shakes things up with the second pick, where he envisions the Washington Commanders selecting LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. This unexpected move sets the stage for intriguing trade scenarios and further surprises in the top picks.
According to Prisco's mock, the New York Giants will make a bold move by trading up from their sixth overall pick to the third spot. Their target is North Carolina's Drake Maye, a highly-touted quarterback prospect. As part of the deal, the Giants would give up their pick at No. 6, a second-round selection in this year's draft, and another second-rounder in the following year to the New England Patriots.
In return, the Patriots acquire valuable draft assets and make a selection at No. 6 by taking Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The Patriots have reportedly shown a keen interest in McCarthy, making this a win-win trade for both teams, despite Prisco's belief that Maye is the superior quarterback.
Prisco's mock also includes a trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Denver Broncos. The Eagles would move up to the 12th pick, aiming to secure Alabama corner Terrion Arnold. To make the trade happen, the Eagles would surrender their first-round pick at No. 22, a second-round selection (No. 50) in this draft, and a fourth-rounder in 2025.
In exchange, the Broncos benefit from additional draft picks and select Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. This trade allows Denver to address their quarterback needs while accumulating resources for the future.
While Prisco acknowledges that his mock draft is subject to scrutiny and potential inaccuracies, he offers fans a glimpse into his predictions for the highly-anticipated 2024 NFL Draft.
