**Preston Smith Quickly Adapts to New Role with Steelers**
In a swift transition, linebacker Preston Smith was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday. By Wednesday, he was already participating in practice with his new team and appeared to be settling in seamlessly.
Smith shared his thoughts with reporters, expressing relief and optimism about his new position. "I see myself mainly as a 3-4 outside linebacker," Smith explained. This season, however, he had been utilized primarily as a 4-3 defensive end under the direction of first-year Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. His relocation to Pittsburgh allows him to return to his favored position. “I'm back in the system I'm comfortable being in,” he remarked.
Reflecting on his career, Smith noted, "It's just what I've been playing in the last nine years of my career until this last season. It's what I feel comfortable playing in, what I got used to playing in. Just being back in the system is like riding your favorite bike again." This sense of familiarity and confidence is a significant boost for the Steelers as they prepare for the upcoming games.
Smith has demonstrated his reliability and skill by starting all nine games for the Packers this season. He assured fans and the coaching staff that he would be ready to contribute to the Steelers' defense on Sunday.
