### Patriots Eye Potential Moves Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, the New England Patriots are looking to make strategic moves. With the deadline set for 4 p.m. ET next Tuesday, Nov. 5, the Patriots find themselves in a position to sell, given their 2-6 record. Despite a recent win over the Jets, the team is focusing on future building, prioritizing valuable draft picks over players with expiring contracts or limited roles.

This will be the first trade deadline for Eliot Wolf in his role as vice president of player personnel. Wolf's focus will likely be on setting up the Patriots for a stronger offseason. Among the players most likely to be moved is Joshua Uche. On an expiring contract, Uche has not delivered the expected 'prove-it' season, recording only two sacks in seven games and seeing reduced playing time. Nonetheless, his potential makes him an attractive option for teams seeking to bolster their rosters.

K.J. Osborn is another player who might be on the way out. His impact has been minimal, with just eight offensive snaps and no catches in the last game. With several younger receivers like Javon Baker, Ja'Lynn Polk, and DeMario Douglas needing playing time, Osborn seems an expendable piece despite his previous success with the Vikings.

Tyquan Thornton, who had high expectations coming out of training camp, is also a candidate for a trade. Despite being a regular with the top offense as the 'X' receiver, his production has been underwhelming, with only two catches after the season opener until a slight uptick in the last game. Teams that miss out on other receivers might find Thornton a viable option.

Veteran tight end Austin Hooper could be another player on the trading block. Hooper has been a significant contributor in the Patriots' preferred 12 personnel formations, bringing in 12 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown. However, at nearly 30 and not part of the long-term plan, he could be moved to create opportunities for younger tight ends like Jahiem Bell.

Lastly, Sidy Sow might find himself on the trade list too. Buried deep in the depth chart behind players like Mike Onwenu and Layden Robinson, Sow has shown promise that could be enticing to other teams in need of improving their offensive line.

The Patriots should remain open to most trade offers but are likely to retain key veterans who contribute significantly to team leadership and culture, such as Jacoby Brissett, Kendrick Bourne, Hunter Henry, and Davon Godchaux. Their presence is crucial for nurturing the younger talent and maintaining stability.

As the trade deadline looms, the Patriots' decisions will shape not only their current roster but also their future potential, making the next week's developments critical for the team's ambitions.
