In a recent interview on The Ray D'Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1, former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan expressed his confidence in actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson to take on the iconic role of 007. With rumors circulating about the next Bond agent following Daniel Craig's tenure, Brosnan endorsed Taylor-Johnson, stating that he "has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so."
Brosnan, who portrayed the British spy across four films in the 1990s and early 2000s, including GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002), reminisced about his co-starring experience with Taylor-Johnson in the 2009 film, The Greatest, which he also produced. Reflecting on their collaboration, Brosnan recalled Taylor-Johnson's remarkable performance, dubbing him "The Greatest" in the movie, which also featured Carey Mulligan and Susan Sarandon.
As buzz surrounding Taylor-Johnson's potential casting as the next Bond intensifies, Brosnan expressed his support and encouraged the actor to embrace the role wholeheartedly. Should Taylor-Johnson secure the coveted role following the release of No Time to Die in 2021, Brosnan advised him to "be bold" and have a great time portraying the iconic character.
This endorsement from Brosnan adds to the growing list of former Bond actors who believe Taylor-Johnson is a fitting choice. Earlier, On Her Majesty's Secret Service star, George Lazenby, also expressed his confidence in the Bullet Train actor's ability to embody the suave and sophisticated British agent.
As fans eagerly await the official announcement of the next James Bond, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's name continues to gain traction, drawing praise from esteemed predecessors in the iconic role. With Brosnan's approval ringing loud and clear, it seems the anticipation for Taylor-Johnson to don the famous tuxedo is only set to grow.
