Nearly 20 years after the release of "John Tucker Must Die," Penn Badgley and Brittany Snow are eagerly waiting for their invitation to the highly anticipated sequel. The co-stars recently revealed during an episode of Badgley's podcast, Podcrushed, that they have not been approached for the upcoming project.
Snow, 38, expressed her surprise, saying, "Penn, I don't know if you've had a call, but I've gotten no call." Badgley, 37, confirmed, "Yeah, I've had no call, no. I mean, it's maybe possible like the superposition quantum physics, like everything is potentially within the realm of, like, maybe this apple will fall up, I can't actually say with certainty."
Fans of the original film were excited when Jesse Metcalfe, who portrayed John Tucker, hinted about a sequel during Epics Con Chicago in March. Metcalfe, 45, mentioned the existence of a script and expressed his enthusiasm to be part of it. Co-stars Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel also attended the event, further fueling speculation about the sequel.
Kebbel, 39, who is involved in the sequel, revealed that the script would involve the original cast, including Badgley and Snow, as well as singer Ashanti, who had a role in the first film. She teased that Metcalfe's character may or may not have a chance to change his ways, which would make for an exciting storyline.
Snow shared that she had been in discussions with Kebbel about the sequel for years but was unaware of its current status. She eagerly supported Kebbel's efforts, saying, "Go forth with that!" Snow added, "I will read whatever - they've worked really hard."
Badgley admitted that he had never considered the possibility of a sequel but would be open to reading the script. Snow playfully declared, "I'm not doing it if you're not doing it," highlighting their close bond.
As fans eagerly await more information about the sequel to "John Tucker Must Die," it remains uncertain why Badgley and Snow have not received an invitation to reprise their roles. However, with Kebbel's involvement and Metcalfe's tantalizing hint about the script, hopes remain high for a reunion of the original cast.
In the original film, Bush, Kebbel, and Ashanti played three girls from different high school cliques who discover that they are all secretly dating the popular and charismatic John Tucker, portrayed by Metcalfe. The comedy-romance became a cult favorite and garnered a loyal fan base.
