In a recent showcase by developer Grinding Gear Games, several announcements were made regarding Path of Exile 2. One of the major updates is the delay of the game's beta release, which was originally planned for this summer. The developer cited the need for additional time to polish the gameplay to their satisfaction.

Previously, Grinding Gear Games had announced their intention to commence a closed beta test on June 7th, 2024, which would last for several months. However, the studio revealed during the showcase that the beta would be pushed back. Although specific dates were not provided, they assured fans that the beta would take place toward the end of the year.

Despite the delay, the alpha testing for Path of Exile 2 will still proceed as planned in June. The developer acknowledged underestimating the time required to achieve the desired level of gameplay polish. While disappointed about the delay, they remain committed to delivering a high-quality experience for players.

Additionally, the showcase featured the reveal of the ranger class from Path of Exile 1, which will be making a return in the sequel. Fans of the franchise were delighted to see the class featured, bringing familiarity and nostalgia to the upcoming release of Path of Exile 2.

In other news related to the Path of Exile franchise, the game's original version will receive an expansion titled "Necropolis" on March 29th, providing new content for players to explore.

Regarding Path of Exile 2's monetization model, game director Jonathan Rogers confirmed in an interview with PC Gamer that it will remain "exactly the same" as the original Path of Exile. This means that the game will continue to be free-to-play, and both versions will share an in-game shop, allowing purchases made in either game to be accessible in both.

As fans eagerly await the release of Path of Exile 2, Grinding Gear Games continues to work diligently on refining the gameplay experience. The studio's dedication to delivering a polished product ensures that players will have an immersive and enjoyable adventure in the world of Path of Exile.
