A passenger jet flying from Belgrade to Dusseldorf was left with significant damages after striking a landing pole during take-off. The Air Serbia aircraft, an Embraer E195LR operated by Greek carrier Marathon Airlines, suffered a gaping hole in its fuselage and deep cracks on its body. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at 4.37pm when the 15-year-old plane departed with the flight number JU324 but had to return to Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport for an emergency landing an hour later.

Pictures of the plane showed an enormous hole on the left side of the fuselage, with exposed connecting material between the wing and the body. The aircraft, with a capacity of 132 seats, circled the airport after take-off before landing back safely. Despite the damages, Air Serbia confirmed that no passengers onboard were seriously injured in the incident.

The reason for the jet's collision with the landing pole, situated on a 4,260 feet runway, is yet unknown. It's noteworthy that planes like the E195LR typically require a longer runway, approximately 7,000 feet, for proper acceleration to achieve lift during take-off.
