### McKinney and Reed Make NFL History in Packers' Victory Over Rams
In a standout game at SoFi Stadium, Xavier McKinney and Jayden Reed hit remarkable milestones during the Green Bay Packers' victory over the Los Angeles Rams. McKinney continued his impressive streak of interceptions, while Reed accumulated significant scrimmage yards, placing both athletes in elite NFL company.
Xavier McKinney made waves by securing an interception in his fifth consecutive game this season, a feat achieved by only four players since 1970. The select group includes Trevon Diggs (2021), Brian Russell (2003), and Lemar Parrish (1973). Adding to his previous success with the New York Giants in 2023, McKinney now holds interceptions in six straight games and has recorded seven picks in that span. The NFL record for consecutive games with an interception stands at eight. This season, McKinney’s five interceptions are the highest through the first five games since Diggs' six interceptions in 2021. Over the past three decades, only ten players have managed to intercept at least five passes in the first five weeks of a season.
Jayden Reed, on the other hand, is also showcasing extraordinary talent in the early part of the 2024 season. Reed has garnered 414 receiving yards and 110 rushing yards through five games, totaling 524 yards from scrimmage—ranking him fifth among all NFL players. This combination of 400 receiving yards and 100 rushing yards within the first five weeks has only been achieved by six players in NFL history, the last being Roger Craig in 1985. The other players to have accomplished this rare feat were primarily running backs: Paul Hofer (1980), Timmy Brown (1965), Frank Gifford (1959), and Wilbur Moore (1943).
In the match against the Rams, Reed secured a 53-yard reception and an 11-yard run, bringing his total of explosive plays to 13 this season. He leads the NFL in catches of 20 or more yards (8) and ranks third for catches of 40 or more yards (3). Additionally, Reed is the leading rusher among NFL receivers.
With their remarkable performances, both McKinney and Reed have carved out noteworthy places in NFL history, distinguishing themselves as standout contributors for the Packers this season.
