In a recent podcast appearance by Green Bay Packers' new running back, Josh Jacobs, social media was flooded with rumors claiming that the Packers would not be allowed to wear their iconic green jerseys during their season opener in Brazil against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, the NFL has debunked these rumors, clarifying that players will be able to don their green and gold as usual.

The rumors stemmed from Jacobs' conversation with Chris Long on the "Green Light by Chris Long" podcast. When discussing the upcoming game in Brazil, Jacobs stated, "You know, they said that the part of Brazil we're going to, you can't even wear green at." He further added that the restriction was supposedly due to concerns about local gangs.

These comments quickly caught the attention of Packers fans, with many wondering how two teams that prominently feature green as their primary color could be prohibited from wearing it. Alex Strouf, a host at ESPN Milwaukee, expressed his confusion, stating, "My first thought was, what the heck? How are two teams that wear green as their primary color not going to wear green in a week one NFL game?"

However, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy swiftly addressed the issue and clarified the facts. In a statement to WISN 12 News, McCarthy stated, "The rumor is not true... One of the host stadium's rival soccer clubs wears green, but the league did not say players could not wear green. That is false." He emphasized that no official communication regarding a restriction on wearing green had been made by the league.

The season opener will take place at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where fans traditionally support the Brazilian soccer team, SC Corinthians, by donning black, white, and red. It is the green jerseys of SC Corinthians' rivals that Jacobs had mistakenly referred to in his podcast comments. The NFL understands the passionate fanbase of Green Bay and intends to allow Packers fans to wear their green and gold proudly.

Details regarding ticket sales dates are yet to be announced. The NFL has confirmed that both teams will first inform their season ticket holders before offering tickets to the general public.

Despite the rumors causing brief concern among Packers fans, it has now been confirmed that the team will indeed wear their green jerseys for the season opener in Brazil. With the clarification provided by the NFL, fans can eagerly anticipate the exciting matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles on September 6th.
