**Yankees Make Roster Moves Ahead of Dodgers Game**

In preparation for their game against the Dodgers, the New York Yankees have made several roster adjustments. These changes include optioning right-hander Yerry De los Santos to Triple-A and calling up veteran pitcher Carlos Carrasco.

Jake Woodford, who signed a minor league deal with the Yankees, has opted out and declared free agency. Woodford, initially a first-round pick by the Cardinals in 2015, showed promise in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, posting a 3.26 ERA over 116 innings. However, his performance declined in 2023 with a 6.23 ERA, leading to his non-tendering by the Cardinals.

Woodford's recent journey through the leagues saw him playing for the White Sox and Pirates, where he struggled with a 7.97 ERA over 35 innings in 2024. His Triple-A stats were more respectable, with a 3.93 ERA over 94 innings. Joining the Yankees' minor league system, he posted a 4.54 ERA in 39 2/3 innings at Triple-A. Despite hopes for a major league call-up, Woodford opted for free agency, prompting the Yankees to instead promote Carlos Carrasco.

Carrasco, 38, will be experiencing his second stint with the Yankees this season. After making the Opening Day roster, largely due to injuries among Yankees pitchers, Carrasco struggled with a 5.91 ERA over 32 innings. Despite his recent challenges, Carrasco's wealth of experience and positive reputation as a clubhouse presence make him a valuable addition to a taxed Yankees bullpen ahead of tonight’s matchup with the Dodgers.
