Jurors in New Hampshire have reached a verdict in the tragic case of 5-year-old Harmony Montgomery. The father, Adam Montgomery, has been found guilty of her murder after about six hours of deliberation over two days. Prosecutors revealed during the trial that Montgomery callously beat his daughter before indulging in opioids and fast food as she succumbed to her injuries in the back seat of his car.

New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella expressed condolences to Harmony's family and highlighted the memory and legacy of the young girl. Shockingly, Montgomery went to great lengths to conceal Harmony's body, crushing her into a duffel bag and then a cooler and coating her with lime to mask the odor of decomposition. The heartless act culminated in him dumping her remains like trash outside Boston after renting a U-Haul truck.

The case unfolded after Harmony's mother, Crystal Sorey, noticed the child was missing when she had never been enrolled in school. Montgomery, a 33-year-old violent felon and drug addict, had gained custody of Harmony even after a history of violent offenses, leaving her brother's adoptive parents, Blair and Johnathon Miller, devastated by the tragedy.

Harmony's brother, Jamison, has been praying for her safe return every night, a heartbreaking plea for a lost loved one. Kayla, Montgomery's now-estranged wife, played a crucial role in giving testimony that incriminated him in Harmony's murder as part of a plea deal.

The tragic events of Harmony's death on December 7, 2019, revealed a horrifying account of abuse and neglect. Prosecutors detailed how Harmony's father callously beat her after soiling herself, and she tragically passed away while he callously consumed drugs and fast food.

Montgomery is already serving a minimum of 32 and a half years in prison for an unrelated firearms case; he has also pleaded guilty to lesser charges connected to Harmony's death. The state's child welfare system was criticized for not prioritizing Harmony's well-being and safety in placing her in her father's care, shining a light on the failures that led to this senseless tragedy.
