### NBA Reopens Investigation into Jaxson Hayes Following New Video Evidence of 2021 Incident

The NBA has decided to revisit a domestic violence case concerning Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes after new video footage of a 2021 incident involving his then-girlfriend, Sofia Jamora, surfaced. League spokesman Mike Bass confirmed this development to ESPN on Saturday.

TMZ released previously unseen security camera footage that captured parts of the dispute where Hayes, who was then with the New Orleans Pelicans, can be observed pulling Jamora from one room to another while she pleaded for him to stop. The video details further escalating tensions, with Jamora asking Hayes, "What the f--- do I look like, a punching bag?" followed by Hayes spitting in her direction and causing property damage inside the house.

Police were subsequently called to the scene, leading to Hayes' arrest and deployment of a taser. Initially, Hayes faced 12 charges, but he later pled no contest to resisting arrest and false imprisonment. His sentence included a three-year probation, 450 hours of community service, and weekly domestic violence classes for a year, along with paying restitution.

Despite the league’s initial investigation, Hayes was not subjected to disciplinary action at that time. However, in light of the new video, the NBA is reopening the case. Hayes' representative indicated their continued cooperation with the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, the emergence of this video aligns with a recent lawsuit filed by Jamora’s attorneys. The lawsuit claims that one of the officers involved in Hayes’ arrest had previously met with Hayes' attorneys and received monetary compensation for undisclosed reasons.

Currently, in his sixth NBA season and second with the Lakers, Hayes is averaging 5.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. As the renewed investigation unfolds, the league and fans alike await further developments in this ongoing saga.
