S. military aid package, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will reportedly propose a $100 billion, five-year fund for Ukraine during the alliance's foreign ministers meeting on Wednesday, according to two diplomats familiar with the matter, as reported by POLITICO.

The financial package aims to incentivize NATO allies to provide assistance to Kyiv, especially in light of the delayed U.S. military aid. One proposal under consideration is for the 32 NATO member states to contribute to the $100 billion fund based on their Gross National Income, mirroring the contribution structure for NATO's shared budget.

Additionally, discussions are underway among NATO allies regarding the gradual assumption of responsibilities from a U.S.-led multinational group that coordinates the shipment of weapons to Ukraine. This development, as revealed by POLITICO, aligns with the ongoing efforts to enhance NATO's role in the region.

The diplomats suggest that NATO countries hope to finalize the details concerning both the financial package and the coordination of weapon shipments before the NATO leaders' summit scheduled to take place in Washington in July.

NATO's proposed $100 billion fund showcases the alliance's commitment to supporting Ukraine amidst the political and security challenges it faces, providing an alternative to the delayed U.S. military aid. As discussions progress, NATO aims to bolster its presence in the region and foster closer ties with Ukraine to ensure stability and security.
