After rain suspended the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway before reaching halfway on Sunday, officials have rescheduled the event to resume on Monday at 11 a.m. ET. The race, which was broadcast by USA Network, was halted after completing 51 of the 200 laps required for it to be considered official.

According to the Weather Underground forecast, Monday's weather conditions are expected to include partly cloudy skies with a high of 67 degrees. There is only a 2% chance of rain, providing hope for uninterrupted racing action.

The race initially experienced a delay of 2 hours and 8 minutes due to the inclement weather. However, when the race finally got underway, it proved to be an exciting competition with all 36 cars still running when the race was halted.

At the time of the suspension, Chase Elliott held the lead, followed closely by Martin Truex Jr. in second place and Bubba Wallace in third. Ryan Blaney emerged victorious in the opening stage, which covered 45 laps. Denny Hamlin encountered a setback as he spun while running in second place towards the end of the stage, leading to multiple pit stops for the field. Despite the pit stops, Blaney managed to retain his position and claim the stage victory.

With the race set to resume on Monday, drivers will be gearing up and getting into their cars at 10:40 a.m. ET. The green flag is expected to wave at 11:05 a.m. ET, allowing the competition to continue and potentially reach the halfway mark. All eyes will be on the leaders, Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr., as they aim to maintain their positions and secure a strong finish.

Racing enthusiasts and fans eagerly anticipate the continuation of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan, as the drivers prepare to tackle the remainder of the laps in pursuit of victory.
