**Selmon Announces Leadership Change for Mississippi State Baseball**

In a recent announcement, Selmon emphasized that a leadership change is essential for the advancement of Mississippi State Baseball. “We have not consistently met the standard of success that our university, fans, and student-athletes expect and deserve,” he stated. Selmon expressed gratitude towards Coach Lemonis for his dedication and contributions to the program, including securing a national championship in 2021. He conveyed his best wishes for Lemonis and his family in their future endeavors.

During a team meeting, Selmon reassured the student-athletes of the administration’s confidence in their abilities and the potential they hold for the rest of the season. He motivated them to embrace pride, resilience, and intensity in their performances. Emphasizing the hard work, preparation, and inherent talent within the team, Selmon affirmed the university’s commitment to providing optimal support to help them compete at the highest level for the remaining season.

Justin Parker, who stepped in as the interim head coach, guided the team through a successful stretch, winning nine of the next ten games, including eight victories in SEC play to close the league action with a 15-15 record. Despite a setback against Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament, Mississippi State secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 34-21. The Bulldogs are now set to compete in the Tallahassee Regional.
