In a shocking turn of events, Miss USA 2023, Noelia Voigt, has tendered her resignation, citing a toxic work environment and its detrimental impact on her mental health. In an eight-page resignation letter obtained by ABC News, Voigt expressed her concerns about the Miss USA Organization and its president and CEO, Laylah Rose.
Voigt detailed the alleged mistreatment she experienced soon after winning the Miss USA title. She claimed that Rose was inaccessible for communication, offered no support, and even slandered her. Furthermore, Voigt described feeling unsafe at events she attended as Miss USA, including an incident of sexual harassment at the 2023 Sarasota Christmas Parade. She accused the organization of neglecting its responsibility to provide a chaperone, leaving her feeling vulnerable and alone.
The toll of her experience as Miss USA took both a physical and mental toll on Voigt. She revealed being diagnosed with anxiety, for which she received medication and other treatments. In her resignation letter, Voigt emphasized that the consequences of the mistreatment she endured would have long-lasting impacts on her health.
Voigt also expressed concern for the future of the Miss USA brand, accusing Rose of fostering a culture of fear and control that contradicts women's empowerment. She claimed that this toxic workplace environment was not only unsafe for future titleholders but also for employees.
Since the news broke, "Good Morning America" reached out to the Miss USA Organization for comment on the allegations made by Voigt in her resignation letter. The response of the organization and Laylah Rose is still awaited.
Voigt made her announcement official in an Instagram post on Monday, where she highlighted the importance of prioritizing one's mental health. She expressed gratitude for the love and support she received from fans, family, friends, coaches, and previous directors who guided her during her journey as Miss USA, representing Utah and later the USA at Miss Universe.
It remains to be seen how the Miss USA Organization will address these alarming claims and ensure a safer and healthier work environment for future pageant contestants and staff.
