**Minnesota Vikings Sign Quarterback Daniel Jones**

Daniel Jones, the 27-year-old quarterback, has found a new opportunity with the Minnesota Vikings, following his release from the New York Giants. The Vikings, boasting a strong 9-2 record, signed Jones to a one-year deal worth $375,000 for the remainder of the season. This move comes just five days after the Giants cut him and 10 days after he was benched in favor of Tommy DeVito.

Jones will get a fresh start with Minnesota, although it remains uncertain how much playing time he will see. With Sam Darnold as the starting quarterback, showing significant improvement this season, and Nick Mullens as the backup, Jones is expected to take on the second-string role initially. Nonetheless, he finds himself in a much better team record-wise compared to his tenure with the Giants.

The Giants' poor performance this season, coupled with Jones' inconsistent play, contributed to his release. He accumulated 2,070 passing yards this season but had a concerning 8-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio. The Giants held a dismal 2-8 record at the time of his release, which has since dropped to 2-9.

Another factor influencing the Giants' decision to release Jones was his $23 million injury guarantee. If Jones had sustained a serious injury preventing him from passing a physical by March 12, the Giants would have owed him $12 million guaranteed. Additionally, if he could not pass a physical by the start of next season, they would have been on the hook for another $11 million.

Despite his struggles, Jones did show moments of potential both this season and during his first five years with the Giants. His last appearance saw him and the Giants fall to the Carolina Panthers in Germany, where he completed 22 out of 37 passes for 190 yards, scored a rushing touchdown, but also threw two interceptions in the loss. Now with the Vikings, Jones hopes to make the most of his new opportunity.
