In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, actress Melissa Joan Hart delved into her past friendship with pop star Britney Spears and expressed her ongoing feelings of guilt over introducing Spears to the nightlife scene. Hart, known for her role in "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," starred in the music video for Spears' hit song "(You Drive Me) Crazy" in 1999.

Hart reminisced about the time she and Spears spent together during their teenage years, stating that they had a lot of fun and got to do a lot of press together. However, Hart now feels remorseful for influencing Spears to indulge in the partying lifestyle at a young age. She revealed that she would go clubbing every night and invited Spears to join her, despite the fact that Spears was underage at the time.

"I saw that she was just surrounded by people, never able to break free. And I was like, 'Hey, want to come?'" said Hart. "I feel really guilty about that still to this day because I should have known better, being a big sister."

Hart, who is six years older than Spears, acknowledged her responsibility in the situation and expressed regret for not setting a better example as a more experienced individual. She explained that she loved going out and dancing but knew when to stop, unlike Spears who was still discovering her boundaries as a young celebrity.

The two actresses have not remained in close contact over the years, but Hart mentioned briefly crossing paths with Spears backstage during one of her Las Vegas residencies. However, their interaction was limited due to Spears' busy show schedule.

The interview comes amid ongoing legal battles and discussions surrounding Spears' conservatorship under her father, Jamie Spears. After a long and publicized struggle, the court order was successfully terminated on November 12, 2021. However, details regarding Jamie's request for Spears to pay his legal fees remain undisclosed.

In a recent deleted Instagram post, Spears expressed her feelings of betrayal towards her family and her frustration with the lack of justice surrounding her situation. She admitted that she had not confronted her family face-to-face about the hurt they caused her, citing concerns for her own safety.

As the story continues to unfold, Melissa Joan Hart's candid admission about feeling guilty over introducing Spears to the nightlife scene highlights the complex dynamics and influences that young celebrities can experience.
