### Massive Recall of Meat Products Affects West Michigan Schools

WEST MICHIGAN - A significant meat recall has impacted various schools in West Michigan, with millions of pounds of meat being pulled from circulation. The recall, initiated by BrucePac based in Oklahoma, was first announced on October 9 and involves roughly 12 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products.

Several West Michigan educational institutions have reported receiving some of these recalled products. Among them are Rockford Public Schools and Muskegon Catholic Schools, both of which disclosed that they had already served some of the affected meat in September, prior to the recall. Specifically, the meat was included in a chicken alfredo dish served as part of their hot lunch programs. Muskegon Catholic Schools has confirmed the dish was served on September 17, while Rockford Public Schools did not specify an exact date.

Other institutions, including Ferris State University and Bangor Public Schools, managed to identify and remove the recalled products before they were served. Ferris State University indicated that the recalled meats were typically offered in the 'grab-and-go' sections of their Quad dining hall and market store.

The recall targets products manufactured between May 31 and October 8. The USDA has released a comprehensive list, totaling 342 pages, which includes potentially affected foods from retailers such as Trader Joe's, Costco, Target, and Walmart. Consumers are advised to look for establishment numbers "51205 or P-51205" inside or beneath the USDA inspection mark to identify recalled items. Officials recommend that any impacted products be discarded or returned to the point of purchase for a refund.
