Manhunt Underway for Suspect who Fatally Shot New Mexico State Police Officer

In a tragic incident on Friday morning, New Mexico State Police Officer Justin Hare was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop on I-40 west of Tucumcari. The suspect remains at large, prompting a statewide manhunt as officers actively search for the armed and dangerous individual.
Authorities have disclosed limited details about the suspect but describe the person as last seen wearing a brown hoodie and jacket. At 11:22 a.m., the NMSP issued a post on social media stating that the suspect was spotted on foot on the I-40 Frontage Road heading west, between Montoya and Newkirk.
In response to the incident, law enforcement personnel have been deployed throughout the area, armed with rifles, in an effort to locate and apprehend the suspect. Community members have been urged to exercise caution and refrain from approaching the individual.
