CHAPPEL HILL, N.C. - In an intense matchup at the Chapel Hill regional, LSU baseball showcased their resilience as they rallied for a thrilling 4-3 win over Wofford on Friday. The Tigers' Steven Milam emerged as the hero of the game, delivering his second walk-off home run in three games.

LSU entered the NCAA tournament with confidence, having won 18 of their last 24 games. Their recent success carried them to the SEC tournament championship game on Sunday, where they unfortunately fell short against No. 1 Tennessee, losing 4-3 in the final.

Facing Wofford for the first time ever, LSU found themselves in a challenging position. Right-hander Christian Little, who suffered a lat injury during the SEC tournament championship game, was not available to pitch in the Chapel Hill regional, according to an LSU spokesperson.

The game started with both teams struggling to generate offense, as only one runner reached base in the first inning. Wofford broke the deadlock in the second inning, with Tyler Hare hitting a sacrifice fly to center field, driving in Daniel Jackson for a 1-0 lead. Andrew Mannelly extended Wofford's lead to 2-0 with a two-out RBI single.

LSU tried to mount a comeback but couldn't capitalize on opportunities in the third and fourth innings, leaving Wofford with a 2-0 advantage. The Tigers drew two walks in the fifth inning but were unable to score. Hayden Travinski struck out with a runner in scoring position in the sixth inning as Wofford maintained their two-run lead.

Finally, in the seventh inning, Steven Milam provided a spark for LSU, blasting a solo home run into left field, cutting Wofford's lead in half. However, Wofford responded in the eighth inning with a solo homer of their own from Jack Renwick, regaining a two-run advantage at 3-1.

LSU refused to back down, launching an impressive comeback in the bottom of the eighth inning. Michael Braswell crushed a solo home run over the scoreboard, narrowing the Terriers' lead to 3-2. Shortly after, Jared Jones hit another solo homer, tying the game at three and setting the stage for a thrilling finish.

In the ninth inning, left-hander Griffin Herring took the mound for LSU, delivering a scoreless inning. The momentum was on the side of the Tigers as they emerged victorious in dramatic fashion. Steven Milam once again showcased his clutch ability by hitting a walk-off solo home run, propelling LSU to a thrilling 4-3 triumph over Wofford.

With this hard-fought win, LSU advances to the winner's bracket in the Chapel Hill regional, where they are set to take on the winner of the North Carolina-Long Island matchup on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Tigers are determined to continue their journey in the NCAA tournament and keep their championship aspirations alive.
