### Lions' Jameson Williams Suspended Two Games for Substance Policy Violation

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has been handed a two-game suspension without pay by the NFL for breaching the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. The league stated that Williams will be allowed to return to play on November 4, following the Lions' Week 9 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Williams has decided not to contest the suspension and has accepted the league's decision. In a statement conveyed through his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, Williams expressed his shock at the news, stating, "The news came as a complete surprise that I am still trying to understand." He emphasized that he does not take supplements or over-the-counter medicines and stressed the importance of being accountable for what enters his body.

Despite the suspension, Williams continued to participate in Lions practices over the past couple of days. He admitted that he was informed of the violation this week. This is not the first time Williams has faced disciplinary action; he was previously suspended for four games in 2023 for violating the NFL's gambling policy. Additionally, he missed a significant portion of his rookie season due to an ACL injury suffered during his college years.

Williams, the 12th overall pick from Alabama in the 2022 draft, has made notable contributions to the Lions, registering 361 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The wide receiver expressed his disappointment at being away from the team but affirmed his respect for the game and his commitment to the Lions organization.

Head coach Dan Campbell remains supportive of Williams, recognizing the player's potential for growth despite recent setbacks. Campbell noted that while the team must move forward, they still have confidence in Williams' ability to rebound. The Lions will look to other receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Allen Robinson, Kalif Raymond, Tim Patrick, and tight end Sam LaPorta to fill the void during Williams’ absence.

St. Brown echoed Campbell's sentiments, highlighting the team’s trust in Williams. He mentioned that although the suspension is unfortunate, Williams remains in good spirits and has shown maturity in handling the situation.

Williams himself acknowledged the situation on Monday night, expressing his disappointment but also readiness to return to his team as soon as possible. "I'm in good spirits just ready to get back with [my] brothers ASAP," Williams communicated via text to ESPN.
