### Kim Richards' Relapse Leads to Psychiatric Hold and Family Tensions

Former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards has experienced a setback in her battle with sobriety, leading to a psychiatric hold earlier this month, according to TMZ. The 60-year-old was reportedly acting incoherently at a Hilton hotel, prompting authorities to place her on a 72-hour psychiatric hold in early September.

Richards, who gained fame as a child actress before joining the cast of "RHOBH" from Seasons 1 to 5, was allegedly staying at the hotel when the incident occurred. Police involvement ensued after Richards refused to vacate the premises, leading to her being taken away by ambulance under a 5150 hold.

Following the incident, Kim relocated to a Los Angeles home owned by her younger sister, Kyle Richards. However, she left soon after, only to return on Wednesday. Concerned neighbors contacted the police regarding her erratic behavior. Upon arrival, authorities were informed that Kyle had distanced herself from Kim to encourage her sobriety and did not want her in the house.

Throughout her tenure on "RHOBH," Kim's struggles with substance abuse were well-documented. Her sister Kyle even publicly labeled her an "alcoholic" during the show's first season. Despite these challenges, Kim made significant progress, with Bravo stepping in to fund her rehab in 2011. Andy Cohen, host of "Watch What Happens Live," recounted in his book "Diamonds and Rosé" how the network considered Kim family and aimed to help her overcome her addiction.

Kyle Richards has also acknowledged Bravo's role in aiding Kim's recovery. In a 2019 interview on "The Jenny McCarthy Show," she expressed gratitude, stating that the public nature of the show held Kim accountable and ultimately "saved her life."

Although Kim has not been a full-time cast member in recent seasons, she has made numerous guest appearances. Her most joyful recent public appearance was last June, when Kim, Kyle, and their eldest sister, Kathy Hilton, celebrated Kim's daughter Whitney Davis' wedding with karaoke and festivities.

The recent events mark an unsettling chapter for Kim Richards, whose journey with sobriety has been closely followed by fans and family alike.
