**Several Pittsburgh Steelers Starters Absent as OTAs Enter Second Week**
The Pittsburgh Steelers commenced their second week of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) on Tuesday, with some key players notably absent. Among those missing from the voluntary sessions were wide receiver DK Metcalf, edge rusher T.J. Watt, and defensive lineman Cam Heyward, based on media reports and observations.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Brian Batko shared images of the team's front seven drills, visibly lacking both Heyward and Watt. At the same time, KDKA reporter Cassidy Wood posted footage of wide receivers practicing, with Calvin Austin III leading the drills and no sight of Metcalf.
Despite questions regarding their absences, there might be some reassurance for Steelers fans. Heyward participated in last week's practices but downplayed their significance, referencing that missing OTAs last year did not affect his performance. He had an outstanding 2024 season, achieving eight sacks, a Pro Bowl selection, and All-Pro honors.
Watt, on the other hand, did not attend any sessions last week and appears likely to miss this week’s practices as well. Entering the final year of his contract, he is seeking an extension that could position him as the highest-paid pass rusher in the league.
Metcalf, who recently secured a $150 million contract after his trade from the Seattle Seahawks to the Steelers, is another notable absentee. While his reason for missing practices remains unclear, speculation suggests he might be training in California, possibly with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The attendance of other players remains a topic of interest. Isaac Seumalo, who was absent last week, has not been confirmed on the field for recent sessions. Meanwhile, running back Jaylen Warren, who missed last Thursday's practice but attended the first two, was present for today's activities.
While OTAs are voluntary, and players face no penalties for not participating, attendance often dips in the second week. The only obligatory part of the spring workout schedule is the three-day minicamp set for next Tuesday through Thursday.
