In a major coup for the Kansas men's basketball team, they have successfully recruited highly coveted player AJ Storr from the Wisconsin Badgers. Storr's commitment to the Jayhawks was announced on Thursday, marking a significant addition to the team's roster for the upcoming season.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Storr took to X to share the news of his commitment to the University of Kansas Basketball program. He mentioned that joining the Jayhawks was a dream come true and expressed his honor at becoming a part of the rich tradition and culture surrounding Kansas Basketball.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Storr had numerous suitors in his decision-making process, including Arkansas, Illinois, and Texas. However, he ultimately chose the Jayhawks as his new basketball home.

Although Storr had previously expressed his desire to engage with the NBA Draft process, Charania suggested that he might delay it until after his junior year, as he aims for a first-round NBA draft projection. This decision would potentially elevate Storr's draft stock, making him a highly sought-after prospect for the future.

Standing at 6-foot-7, Storr is a dynamic wing player who was ranked as the No. 9 transfer by Rivals and No. 3 by 247Sports. In his lone season at Wisconsin, he showcased his offensive prowess, averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game, ranking seventh overall in scoring within the Big Ten Conference. He also contributed 3.9 rebounds per game.

Although Storr's long-range shooting wasn't as proficient as some of his peers last season, he still managed to convert 32% of his attempts, going 48-for-150 from beyond the arc. However, his freshman year at St. John's displayed his true shooting potential, where he shot an impressive 40.4% from long range, albeit in a smaller sample size.

Storr's basketball journey has seen him change schools multiple times, starting from Rockford Lutheran and culminating at IMG Academy as a four-star prospect. Joining the Jayhawks will mark his third college experience.

Interestingly, despite being a native of Rockford, Storr has represented the Bahamas internationally, even playing against the Jayhawks in a pair of games during their summer tour of Puerto Rico last August. He showcased his skills, averaging 15 points and five rebounds in those games.

With Storr's addition, the Jayhawks have fortified their lineup with a versatile and talented wing player, providing protection in case of Johnny Furphy's potential departure for the NBA draft. Currently, the Jayhawks boast a full 13-scholarship player roster, with possible room for one more if Furphy decides to leave.

The recruiting efforts may not stop here for the Jayhawks, as reports indicate that they recently had an in-home visit with Alabama transfer Rylan Griffen. It is expected that Griffen will visit the Kansas campus this upcoming weekend, suggesting that the Jayhawks are actively exploring further options in the transfer portal.

Storr's arrival at Kansas is undoubtedly a significant development for the men's basketball program, adding another accomplished offensive weapon to an already formidable lineup. Jayhawks fans eagerly await his contributions on the court and hope that this acquisition will help propel the team to new heights in the upcoming season and beyond.
