Justin Timberlake, the renowned singer and entertainer, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday in the Hamptons on charges of driving while intoxicated. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, Timberlake was apprehended by the Sag Harbor Police Department after allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign and maintaining his lane of travel.
The formal statement released by the Sag Harbor Police Department revealed that the musician was pulled over at 12:37 a.m. while driving a BMW. Upon investigation, it was determined that Timberlake was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was subsequently placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for his morning arraignment.
Timberlake appeared for arraignment at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court at 9:30 a.m. and was released on his own recognizance without bail. The District Attorney's Office confirmed that he was charged with driving while intoxicated, in addition to citations for running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.
Attorney Ed Burke, representing Timberlake, informed Us Weekly that the charge against his client was a single count as Timberlake had refused the breath test. The singer's next court date has been scheduled for July 26.
Following his arrest, Timberlake was photographed leaving court in casual attire, accompanied by his attorney and two other individuals. However, his wife, actress Jessica Biel, was notably absent during the proceedings.
Timberlake's alleged statement to arresting officers revealed that he had consumed one martini and was simply following friends home. However, Sag Harbor Village police officer Michael Arkinson's report described his condition as intoxicated, with bloodshot and glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, slowed speech, unsteady gait, and poor performance on standardized field sobriety tests.
The incident comes at a time when Timberlake is currently on his "Forget Tomorrow World Tour," with recent performances in Tampa and Miami. He is scheduled to have two upcoming shows in Chicago followed by two shows in New York City on June 25 and 26.
Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, has been busy filming the Amazon series "The Better Sister" in New York City. She recently posted a Father's Day tribute to Timberlake on social media, as the couple shares two children.
As the investigation unfolds and legal proceedings progress, the public awaits further comments from Timberlake's spokesperson on this matter.
