The Pittsburgh Steelers have confirmed that quarterback Russell Wilson will be sidelined against his former team, the Denver Broncos, due to a calf injury. This means that Justin Fields will once again take the reins as the starting quarterback for the Steelers in Week 2.

Fantasy football players have high hopes for Fields, considering his performance in his first start in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite not recording a touchdown against a tough Falcons defense, Fields managed to accumulate 11.9 fantasy points. Now, facing the Broncos, Fields has the opportunity to showcase his skills once again.

However, the Broncos' defense has proven to be formidable. In their Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks, they forced two safeties, but had mixed results in slowing down the Seahawks' offense. Geno Smith, the veteran quarterback, scored 17.8 fantasy points with only 171 passing yards and one touchdown. He also contributed 30 rushing yards and a touchdown against the Broncos. Given Fields' proven ability to run, it wouldn't be surprising if he exploited Denver's shaky run defense and recorded his sixth career game with over 100 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, in the running back position, Alexander Mattison emerged as the Las Vegas Raiders' top performer in Week 1. Despite only having five rushing attempts for 19 yards, Mattison showcased his versatility as the team's passing-down running back. He caught four receptions for 43 receiving yards and even scored the team's only touchdown in the game. With a firm grasp on the passing-game role and Dylan Laube a healthy scratch, Mattison is poised to have a significant impact in Week 2.

The Jacksonville Jaguars also saw an impressive performance from their rookie running back, Tank Bigsby. Although Travis Etienne Jr. remains the lead back, Bigsby had a standout game in Week 1, rushing for 73 yards on 12 attempts. In comparison, Etienne had 44 yards on the same number of attempts. The Jaguars have expressed their intent to involve Bigsby more, and it's likely that the rushing attempts will be evenly split between him and Etienne in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns.

In the wide receiver position, the Los Angeles Rams will be without Puka Nacua due to a knee injury. This opens up opportunities for Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson to compete for snaps and potentially become fantasy start options as the No. 2 wide receiver in the Rams' offense. While Johnson had a slightly better performance in Week 1, Robinson's chemistry with quarterback Matthew Stafford from last year could give him an edge.

Lastly, Wan'Dale Robinson has emerged as a promising flex play for fantasy football managers. He had a solid Week 1 performance, recording 8.8 half-PPR fantasy points on 12 targets. Robinson primarily operated from the slot, with impressive target per route run rates. With the San Antonio Commanders struggling against slot receivers in Week 1, Robinson has the potential to shine again in Week 2.

As fantasy football enthusiasts gear up for Week 2, these players present intriguing choices for fantasy lineups. With injuries and standout performances shaping the landscape, managers will have to make strategic decisions to secure their fantasy victories.
