Former BYU standout Jimmer Fredette has made history once again, as he has been selected to join Team USA's first-ever 3x3 men's basketball team at the upcoming Paris Games this summer. Fredette's exceptional skills in the 3x3 format have earned him recognition as one of the top performers in the sport.

Having previously won the Naismith Men's College Player of the Year award in 2011, Fredette's inclusion in the 3x3 Olympic team is a testament to his continued success in the basketball world. His impressive performances led to him being named USA Basketball's 3x3 Male Athlete of the Year for 2023.

Coach Joe Lewandowski had high praise for Fredette, stating, "He's the best 3x3 player ever to play the game, in my opinion. He is that good." This acknowledgment speaks volumes about Fredette's undeniable talent and skill set.

Fredette's journey to the Olympics was paved by his contribution to Team USA's gold medal win at the 2023 Pan American Games, which granted the team automatic qualification for the Paris Olympics. Furthermore, Fredette's leadership and scoring prowess during the 2023 FIBA World Cup earned Team USA a silver medal.

Joining Fredette on Team USA are fellow talented players Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox, and Dylan Travis. The cohesive bond and previous success of this group were showcased during their gold medal win at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 Men's AmeriCup.

If Team USA finishes among the top three teams in Paris, Fredette will become only the eighth BYU athlete to earn an Olympic medal, further solidifying his place in the storied history of the university's athletics.

The 3x3 basketball format adds a unique twist to the Olympic games. Played on a half court with a 12-second shot clock, teams can score one or two points. The first team to reach 21 points or the team leading after 10 minutes claims victory.

As Fredette joins Team USA's 3x3 squad, basketball fans around the world eagerly anticipate witnessing his exceptional skills on display at the Paris Olympics.
