### Rodgers Highlights Importance of Handling Success as Jets Aim to Continue Winning Streak
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets are experiencing a resurgence, characterized by a revitalized offense that has been historically dormant. Winning games and posting multiple touchdowns, the team is riding high on their current success. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has emphasized the need for the team to demonstrate they can handle prosperity, citing wisdom from his first Green Bay Packers coach, Mike McCarthy: "Our biggest struggle is going to be handling success."
Rodgers elaborated on McCarthy’s advice, explaining that teams often rally when they face adversity and criticism. The challenge now is to maintain cohesion and focus when praised. "Can you still come together and have the same approach when everybody's starting to sing your praises a little bit? I think that's the mark of a great team," Rodgers stated.
The Jets, who stand at 2-1 after winning two consecutive games, will face off against the Denver Broncos (1-2) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Jets, favored by 7.5 points, have rarely been such strong favorites in recent history, having closed as seven-point favorites only twice in the past nine seasons.
Under Rodgers’ leadership, the Jets' offense has managed to score three touchdowns in each of their first three games - a feat they last accomplished at the beginning of a season in 1989. Achieving that in a fourth game would be a significant milestone, as the Jets haven’t done so since 1996, a season where they finished with a dismal 1-15 record.
Stressing the importance of a week-long focus, Rodgers has been instilling in his teammates the significance of consistency in their preparation and mindset. "Games are often won and lost in the Monday-to-Saturday of a normal week," Rodgers noted, emphasizing the need for proper rest, nutrition, preparation, and team communication.
The Jets have a history of faltering after strong starts, with records of 6-3 and 4-3 in 2022 and 2023, respectively, only to end both seasons at 7-10. Those seasons saw Zach Wilson at quarterback, who is currently the third-stringer for the Broncos after being traded. Expectations are higher with Rodgers, a four-time MVP, at the helm.
Sunday’s game will also see a significant lineup change, with rookie Olu Fashanu making his starting debut in place of the injured right tackle Morgan Moses, who is sidelined with a sprained knee. Coach Robert Saleh has indicated that while Moses is expected to be out for two to four weeks, he won’t be placed on injured reserve.
Fashanu, drafted 11th overall, will be tasked with protecting Rodgers against a Denver defense that has already recorded 11 sacks this season. "It's definitely a huge responsibility, protecting someone like Aaron," Fashanu said, expressing readiness and confidence instilled by his veteran quarterback.
As the Jets aim to sustain their winning momentum, their performance against the Broncos will be a crucial test of their ability to handle newfound success and maintain their focus.
