Actress Jenna Ortega recently shared insights into her character in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel during an interview for Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue. Set to hit theaters on September 6, the film features Ortega as Astrid, the daughter of Winona Ryder's iconic character, Lydia Deetz. Ortega described Astrid as a unique character, who, despite being different from her mother, shares a complex and important relationship with Lydia in the movie.

The production of the sequel faced some challenges, with the actors' strike causing a temporary shutdown in July, as per SAG-AFTRA rules. However, Ortega highlighted the joy and camaraderie on set, noting that the cast and crew celebrated reuniting and working on practical effects together. She also revealed that Winter River, the fictional town in Beetlejuice, was meticulously rebuilt in Vermont for filming, creating excitement among locals.

Ortega expressed her admiration for director Tim Burton's enthusiasm on set, mentioning that he was visibly delighted with the project. She shared that the atmosphere during filming was a mix of sentimentality, celebration, and dedication to bringing the beloved characters and story back to life. Despite the challenges faced during production, Ortega reflected on the experience as one of the happiest she had witnessed on set.

The Beetlejuice sequel, titled "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," wrapped production late last year after overcoming obstacles during the actors' strike. With a script by Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the film promises to offer fans a nostalgic and new perspective on the beloved characters from the original movie.
