### Jaguars Secure First Win of Season with Thrilling Victory over Colts
In a dramatic finish, the Jacksonville Jaguars clinched their first win of the season by overcoming the Indianapolis Colts 38-31. This victory ensured that all NFL teams have now chalked up at least one win this fall.
The Jaguars took control of the game early on Sunday afternoon, maintaining a slight edge over the Colts for most of the match. They surged ahead in the second quarter with an impressive 85-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence to rookie Brian Thomas Jr. By the fourth quarter, Jacksonville had extended their lead to 14 points, thanks to a 4-yard pass to Brenton Strange and a stunning 65-yard touchdown run by Tank Bigsby.
Bigsby's lengthy run with just over five minutes remaining seemed to put the game out of reach for the Colts. However, Colts quarterback Joe Flacco, filling in for the injured Anthony Richardson, almost orchestrated a comeback. In a swift three-play touchdown drive, Flacco connected twice with Alec Pierce, narrowing the game to a single touchdown. The Colts then forced a quick Jacksonville punt and tied the score with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Pierce. Remarkably, the Colts scored 14 points in just 87 seconds.
Despite this surge, Lawrence led the Jaguars down the field to set up a game-winning field goal by Little. Flacco’s impressive but ultimately futile effort saw him complete 33 of 44 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns. Pierce's standout performance included 134 yards and a touchdown on three receptions, all occurring in the fourth quarter. Trey Sermon contributed 38 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries for the Colts, who now hold a 2-3 record for the season.
Lawrence, celebrating his 25th birthday, threw for 371 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, completing 28 of 34 passes. Bigsby was a force on the ground with 101 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries, while Thomas notched 122 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. Notably, this win marks the Jaguars' first victory since November 26 of last year.
Though the Jaguars have suffered some close losses this season—most notably a three-point defeat to the Miami Dolphins, a five-point loss to the Cleveland Browns, and a last-minute defeat by the Houston Texans—they have shown resilience. This resilience broke their streak of six 0-4 starts in franchise history, the first since 2021.
Next week, the Jaguars will face the Chicago Bears at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Given their current standing, victories in these upcoming London games are vital if they hope to keep their postseason dreams alive. Only the 1992 San Diego Chargers have managed to reach the playoffs after beginning their season 0-4.
For now, Jacksonville can take pride in breaking their losing streak with a much-needed win—it's the crucial first step towards turning their season around.
