News of the Jacksonville Jaguars' stadium naming rights being up for grabs has sparked discussions among fans about potential names for the future "Stadium of The Future." The current 10-year, $43 million deal with EverBank is set to expire at the end of the 2024 season.
The initial naming rights deal between EverBank and the Jaguars was struck in July 2010, with the agreement worth a little over $3 million per year. The contract was later renewed in 2014, increasing the yearly rate to $4.3 million. It is possible that EverBank might choose to extend the current contract once again in light of the approaching contract year.
However, it's important to note that the value of NFL naming rights deals tends to increase with improvements to the stadium and the performance of the team. Negotiations for a fair price might be further complicated by the pending stadium enhancements and possible seasons with no home games played.
Over the past decade, NFL stadium naming rights sponsorships have seen a significant increase, rising by 81%. This trend suggests that a deal that cost Everbank $4.3 million in 2014 could now cost somewhere around $7.8 million or even higher in 2025.
Recent stadium naming rights deals have ranged from $7 million to $25 million per year, indicating a wide variation in price points. As discussions regarding a new naming rights deal for the Jaguars' stadium continue, speculation has arisen about potential local companies that could be considered for the honor.
Among the suggestions put forward by fans are Bacardi Bottling Corp Stadium, also known as the Bacardi Bowl, and Baptist Health Field. Both Bacardi and Baptist Health are major employers in Jacksonville and could be realistic options for the stadium's new naming rights.
As negotiations progress towards a final agreement with the City Council, the future name of the Jacksonville Jaguars' stadium remains up in the air. Fans will have to wait and see which local company steps forward to put its name on the renovated stadium, keeping in mind the increasing costs associated with these naming rights deals.
