**OnePlus Unveils OnePlus Pad 3: Bigger, Faster, and Priced Higher**
OnePlus has introduced the latest addition to its tablet lineup, the OnePlus Pad 3, featuring a new chipset, a larger display, and an elevated price point. Known for offering some of the best value Android tablets, OnePlus is now aiming to supersize its offerings with the OnePlus Pad 3.
The new tablet is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, accompanied by either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. This power-packed setup runs on the newest version of OxygenOS with Android 15 and is supported by a massive 12,140 mAh battery with 80W charging capabilities, promising a robust performance on the spec sheet.
The OnePlus Pad 3 boasts a 13.2-inch LCD display with a resolution of 3392x2400. The screen supports a typical brightness of 600 nits, which can peak at 900 nits in high-brightness mode, and it offers a smooth refresh rate of 144Hz. Audio is handled by eight speakers, and wired audio output is provided via a USB-C port. Despite its impressive features, the tablet remains incredibly thin at just 5.97mm.
In terms of photography and videography, the tablet includes a 13MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear-facing camera. However, it lacks any form of secure biometrics, relying solely on a camera-based face unlock that won't be secure enough for apps needing high security, like password managers. This shortfall is notable, especially for a device priced at $700.
On the software front, OnePlus is offering commendable support with 6 years of security updates and three major OS updates, extending through Android 18. The software is rich with AI features and comes with OnePlus' highly praised Open Canvas multitasking system. This system now includes enhancements such as app group suggestions for a smoother user experience.
Additional accessories include an upgraded keyboard case, adjustable between 110-165 degrees, supporting NFC for file transfers between your phone and tablet. The OnePlus Stylo 2 is compatible and there's also a Folio case available for additional protection.
With these features, OnePlus aims to solidify its position in the Android tablet market, though the premium price tag and some missing high-security features might give potential buyers pause.
