### Steelers Face Injury Woes Ahead of Monday Night Clash with Giants

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been hit with a flurry of injuries just before their Monday night game against the New York Giants. In a surprising update, quarterback Justin Fields has been added to the injury report with a hamstring issue, making his participation in the upcoming game questionable. This development is unexpected as Fields had not appeared on any injury reports earlier this week, suggesting the injury may have been a recent occurrence.

Additionally, the Steelers have confirmed that running back and kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson will not play. Patterson, who has been dealing with an ankle injury since Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts, has officially been downgraded to out. This change leaves Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren as the primary running backs for the game.

If Fields is unable to play, veteran quarterback Kyle Allen will serve as the backup to starter Russell Wilson for his second start of the season. Allen has seen limited action this year, with only two snaps under his belt, one of which was a successful 19-yard pass. Fields' hamstring injury, even if he's active, could limit any special packages that were previously planned to utilize his running ability—strategies that some team reporters speculated might be unleashed against the Giants.

With a bye week on the horizon, Pittsburgh might opt to rest Fields to ensure he's fully healed for their Week 10 matchup against the Washington Commanders. Decisions regarding his status are likely to be finalized 90 minutes before kickoff when inactives are announced.

The list of injured Steelers doesn't stop with Fields and Patterson. EDGE Nick Herbig, center Zach Frazier, linebacker Tyler Matakevich, wide receiver Roman Wilson, and offensive tackle Dylan Cook are also ruled out for the upcoming game. Both Matakevich and Cook have resumed practice but remain on injured reserve.

The Steelers and Giants are set to kick off Monday night at 8:20 PM/EST, with Pittsburgh facing significant challenges due to their injury-plagued lineup.
