### Colts to Start Joe Flacco Over Anthony Richardson Amid Player Support

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen has decided to start Joe Flacco at quarterback, following a push from several players who advocated for the change, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The players believe that Flacco offers the best chance for success this season, and Steichen's decision to start him against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football reflects that sentiment.

Flacco, who has appeared in three games this season and started two, has demonstrated strong performance metrics. He has thrown for 716 yards, recording seven touchdowns and only one interception, while completing 65.7% of his passes. In contrast, Anthony Richardson’s completion rate is significantly lower at 44.4%.

The Colts have made it clear that the move does not signify a lack of faith in Richardson's potential. The 22-year-old, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has shown promise despite his current 5-5 record as a starter. Richardson has accumulated 1,535 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and eight interceptions so far in his rookie season.

The team’s management has had discussions with Richardson to reassure him of his future with the team. They referenced the career trajectories of quarterbacks like Alex Smith and Jordan Love, both of whom took time to develop before finding success in the NFL.
