The deal involves buying the franchisor G6 Hospitality and its Motel 6 and Studio 6 extended-stay brands from the current owner Blackstone for a sum of $525 million. Blackstone had acquired G6 in 2012 for $1.9 billion and has seen significant returns since, with over $1 billion in profit generated.

G6 Hospitality holds a prominent position in the economy lodging market, boasting an impressive gross room revenue of $1.7 billion per year. With more than 1,450 hotels under the Motel 6 franchise network spanning 49 states and five Canadian provinces, the chain strategically situates its properties near airports, freeways, and major transportation routes. Additionally, Studio 6 comprises over 200 properties across locations like Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, and Canada.

Oyo already operates over 320 hotels in 35 states, primarily in the southern and western regions of the United States. The acquisition of Motel 6, including its vast network of hotels, stands to significantly expand Oyo's presence in the hospitality industry. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of the year, marking a substantial development for both Oravel Stays and the Motel 6 chain.
