Details surrounding Carmen's passing have not been disclosed. However, his impact on the music scene and his extensive body of work are undeniable.

Born into a musically inclined family, Carmen drew inspiration from his mother, a professional violist who played with the renowned Cleveland Orchestra. Classical music played a significant role in his songwriting process, evident in hits such as "All By Myself," which is partially based on Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor.

Carmen's musical journey began in 1970 when he formed the influential Cleveland band called the Raspberries. Despite not achieving widespread fame, the group garnered a dedicated fan base that included music icons like John Lennon, Lou Reed, and Bruce Springsteen. Carmen recalled an encounter with Springsteen, where their mutual admiration for each other's work was palpable.

After the Raspberries disbanded in 1975, Carmen embarked on a successful solo career. His music found its way into numerous films, ranging from "Bridget Jones's Diary" to "Almost Famous," with director Cameron Crowe being a fan of the Raspberries. Carmen co-wrote the love theme for the movie "Footloose," titled "Almost Paradise," which was performed by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson.

Eric Carmen's music resonated with a multitude of artists from various genres, leading to cover versions of his songs by the likes of John Travolta, Shirley Bassey, and Celine Dion. In 2004, the Raspberries reunited for a tour that lasted three years, bringing joy to their devoted fanbase once again. Additionally, Carmen toured as part of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band.

The loss of Eric Carmen leaves a significant void in the music world, with his soul-stirring ballads and timeless melodies etching his name in the annals of music history.
