In a recent health inspection, a local restaurant has been found to have several concerning sanitary issues that pose a serious risk to public health and safety. The inspection report, obtained by our news team, highlights numerous violations ranging from live roach activity to improper food storage and unsanitary practices.
One of the most alarming findings was the presence of live roaches in various areas of the establishment. Roaches were discovered crawling on walls, underneath food preparation tables, and even in the dishwashing area. A total of 10 live roaches were found, indicating a severe infestation problem that requires immediate attention.
Additionally, live, small flying insects were observed in the kitchen, food preparation area, food storage area, and bar area. The inspection report documented instances of these insects landing on walls in the prep area and dishwashing area.
The accumulation of debris on the exterior of the ware washing machine was another cause for concern. This not only raises questions about the cleanliness of the equipment but also indicates a lack of proper maintenance and cleaning protocols.
The walls in the dishwashing area were found to be soiled with accumulated grease, food debris, and black mold-like substance buildup. Such conditions not only compromise the cleanliness and hygiene of the establishment but also pose a health hazard to the patrons.
A major violation was observed when an employee was found touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands, without heating the food or using approved alternative operating procedures. This can lead to cross-contamination and the spread of harmful bacteria and viruses.
Furthermore, the employee's handwashing practices were also deemed inadequate. They were observed rubbing their hands together for less than the recommended duration and at times without using soap.
Temperature control issues were also flagged during the inspection. Time/temperature control for safety food, such as cooked turkey, chicken, and pork, was found to be held at temperatures greater than the recommended 41 degrees Fahrenheit, posing a risk of bacterial growth.
Another concerning violation was the lack of proper storage practices. Raw animal food was found stored over unwashed produce, and raw fish was not properly separated from ready-to-eat food in the walk-in cooler.
Other violations noted in the inspection report included the misuse of handwashing sinks, nonfood-contact surfaces being soiled, failure to label time-controlled refrigerated items, improperly washed utensils, food stored on the floor, and employees engaging in food preparation without proper handwashing.
The restaurant has been issued a list of corrective actions and is required to address the violations within a specified timeframe. Failure to comply with the necessary improvements may lead to serious penalties and potential closure of the establishment.
It is essential for consumers to be aware of these health hazards when choosing where to dine. Regular inspections and adherence to food safety regulations are crucial in maintaining public health standards and ensuring a safe dining experience for all.
The restaurant management was contacted for a statement but has not responded to our request at this time.
