In a shocking turn of events, a 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a disturbing crime scene discovered in a Bronx apartment. The arrest follows a wellness check that led authorities to find body parts inside the residence.

The incident unfolded in the Highbridge section of the Bronx when police received a call for a wellness check at 979 Summit Avenue on Tuesday night around 8:25 p.m. Upon entering Apartment 6G, officers made a gruesome discovery - a torso and arms were found inside the dwelling.

Detectives swiftly obtained a search warrant and continued their investigation on Wednesday night. To their horror, they found the remaining body parts - the victim's legs, arms, and head - hidden in a freezer. The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Collin Small, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

In a chilling revelation, the Medical Examiner's Office informed detectives that bullet fragments were discovered within the victim's head, which ultimately led to the murder charge against the suspect, identified as Sheldon Johnson.

In a further development, investigators found concrete inside Johnson's car, a potentially key piece of evidence in the case. Additionally, authorities have revealed that a Tyvek suit, commonly used during hazardous situations, was also recovered.

Sheldon Johnson has a troubling past, having previously served approximately 25 years in prison for attempted murder and other charges. However, his current employer, the Queens Defenders, declined to comment on the matter.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to establish a motive and gather additional evidence related to this horrific crime. The arrest of Johnson offers hope for justice in what appears to be an unimaginably tragic and violent incident.

Residents of the Highbridge community are left in shock and disbelief, grappling with the grisly nature of the crime that has unfolded in their midst. As they mourn the loss of Collin Small, thoughts turn to the pursuit of justice for the victim and his grieving loved ones.

The court proceedings and subsequent trial will shed further light on the circumstances surrounding this heinous act, as law enforcement officials seek answers and closure in what is undoubtedly a complex and distressing case of murder.
