Green Bay Packers' Josh Jacobs Nears Unwanted NFL Record, But Quarterback Jordan Love Aims to End the Drought

In his quest to make a name for himself in the NFL, Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs finds himself on the verge of an unfortunate record. With 197 career catches but zero receiving touchdowns, Jacobs is closing in on breaking former running back Gerald Riggs' record of 201 catches without a touchdown.
The distinction of being the only two players in NFL history with over 150 career catches but no touchdowns is not one Jacobs is particularly proud of. Riggs, a three-time Pro Bowler, spent seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and three with Washington before retiring with a Super Bowl win in his final year.
Aware of the ignominious stat that Jacobs is approaching, Packers quarterback Jordan Love is determined to put an end to the drought. Love, who took the reins as the team's starting quarterback last year, expressed surprise at Jacobs' lack of touchdowns and vowed to ensure the record is broken sooner rather than later.
During a recent Bleacher Report AMA, Love confidently stated, "No, that's not going to happen. I saw that the other day. I'm surprised he doesn't have any touchdowns yet. Let's see, 197 career receptions, zero receiving touchdowns. I sent that to him, I said, 'Bro, we're going to get you a touchdown, for sure.' First pass to him might be a touchdown, who knows. Five receptions away from it? We'll make sure he gets a touchdown in there."
Jacobs, who has spent five seasons with the Packers, has averaged 2.7 receptions per game during his career. Remarkably, Love's predecessor, Aaron Jones, held a similar average of 2.7 catches per game in his first year as the lead back.
Should these averages hold, Jacobs is on track to break the record in Week 2 at Lambeau Field. However, Love remains confident that he can connect with Jacobs for a touchdown even before he reaches the milestone.
The Packers' quarterback is determined to make an impact in his second year as the team's signal-caller, with the record-breaking play serving as an added motivation for both himself and Jacobs. As they work together to improve the Packers' offense, Love and Jacobs aim to make a mark and put an end to the running back's touchdown drought.
With training camp approaching, all eyes will be on Love and Jacobs as they aim to achieve this significant milestone. Football enthusiasts and Packers fans will eagerly await the upcoming season to witness if Love can deliver on his promise and help Jacobs avoid an unwanted record in NFL history.
