Former WWE star Paul Roma has come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct that he claims to have witnessed during his time in the professional wrestling industry. The former wrestler, who was part of WWE from 1984 to 1991 and later moved on to World Championship Wrestling, spoke out about the issue in light of the recent lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against former WWE chairman Vince McMahon.
During an appearance on NewsNation, Roma discussed the prevalence of rumors and allegations of sexual favors being propositioned to wrestlers within the company. He pointed towards company executives as being involved in such behavior, stating that individuals were put in difficult situations with ultimatums of either complying or facing termination from their jobs.
Roma shared stories of his former tag team partners being allegedly propositioned for sexual favors, leading some to ultimately walk away from the industry altogether. He described instances where wrestlers were offered money and drugs in exchange for compliance, indicating a disturbing pattern within the wrestling business.
Following the explosive lawsuit from Janel Grant, McMahon stepped down as chairman of TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, denying all allegations made against him. His resignation came amidst growing scrutiny and accusations within the industry.
Despite Roma's claims and the ongoing legal battle, WWE representatives, TKO Group Holdings, and McMahon's spokesperson have yet to respond to requests for comments on these allegations. Roma also hinted at the existence of incidents even more severe than those detailed in the Grant lawsuit, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing controversy surrounding WWE and its executives.
