Former Representative George Santos has filed a civil lawsuit against late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, ABC, and Disney, alleging copyright infringement, fraudulent inducement, breach of contract, and unjust enrichment. The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, claims that Kimmel deceived Santos into creating Cameo videos, which were then improperly broadcasted on national television and social media for commercial gain. Santos is seeking at least $150,000 in statutory damages for each infringement, along with other unspecified damages, and is requesting injunctions to prevent further copyright infringement. Kimmel, ABC, and Disney have not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit. Santos joined the celebrity video platform Cameo last year, creating personalized videos for Kimmel under false pretenses. The licensing agreement for the videos did not permit their broadcast on national television, yet Kimmel's team aired them on his show and shared them on social media. Santos, who is requesting a jury trial, aims to hold the defendants accountable for their actions.
