**Former NFL Quarterback Jay Cutler Faces Multiple Charges Following Crash in Tennessee**
Jay Cutler, who previously played for the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos, has been charged with several offenses after a car accident in Franklin, Tennessee. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Thursday, as reported by ESPN.
Cutler, the Chicago Bears' all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, attempts, and completions, is facing charges that include driving under the influence (DUI), possession of a handgun while under the influence, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, and implied consent. The crash reportedly involved Cutler rear-ending another vehicle.
According to a news release, officers at the scene detected a strong smell of alcohol on Cutler and observed that he was slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes. Despite refusing to undergo field sobriety tests, Cutler was taken to a local hospital, where a blood sample was obtained courtesy of a blood search warrant.
A subsequent search of Cutler's vehicle revealed two firearms, including a loaded pistol. Following the incident, he posted bond and was released.
During his 12-year career in the NFL, Cutler amassed over 35,000 passing yards and 227 touchdowns. He was a first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2006 after playing college football at Vanderbilt. Cutler last played professionally in 2017.
