Former NFL Player Arrested for Allegedly Urinating on Passenger During Flight

Former NFL offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus was arrested on Sunday after reportedly urinating on another passenger during a cross-Atlantic flight, according to multiple reports. The incident took place during a Delta flight bound for Dublin, which was forced to divert back to Boston due to the unruly behavior of the former player.

Cherilus, who is now 40 years old, pleaded not guilty to charges of interfering with the operation of an aircraft, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest during his arraignment at East Boston District Court on Monday. He was subsequently released on a $2,500 bond.

The altercation reportedly began when the flight was unexpectedly delayed for approximately four hours, causing frustration among the passengers. Cherilus stated in a written apology posted on X, "In preparation for the unexpected overnight flight, I took a sleeping medication that I don't normally use, which resulted in behavior that is not representative of my character, and I would like to apologize to the passengers and flight crew."

According to reports, police were called to Logan Airport at 2 a.m. on Sunday after the Delta flight made an emergency landing in Boston. The flight had to be diverted back to its origin due to the "unruly" behavior of Cherilus, who allegedly urinated on another passenger during the course of the flight.

Witnesses stated that Cherilus appeared intoxicated upon arrival at the airport. He engaged in an argument with another passenger regarding seating arrangements before the plane took off. Approximately an hour into the flight, Cherilus approached an elderly woman, exposed himself, and proceeded to urinate on her. When flight crew members attempted to intervene, Cherilus became even more agitated.

Following the incident, Cherilus was escorted off the flight by police officers and subsequently arrested. He now faces serious charges in relation to his alleged disruptive and offensive behavior on the flight.

The case has gained significant attention due to Cherilus' prior career as a professional football player in the NFL. Cherilus played in the league for several years and was known for his tenure as an offensive lineman.
