In a shocking turn of events, Blaise Taylor, a former college football star and current assistant coach at Texas A&M, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of poisoning his girlfriend, Jade Benning, and their unborn child to death. Taylor, 27, was apprehended by federal marshals in Utah as they served an indictment from Nashville police on two counts of first-degree murder.

The tragic incident unfolded on February 25, 2023, when Benning, who was five months pregnant with what is believed to be Taylor's baby, was rushed to the hospital. Taylor had reportedly called 911, claiming that Benning had suffered an allergic reaction. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Benning's condition remained critical, and she tragically passed away on March 6, 2023 - her 25th birthday. The unborn child also perished two days after the incident.

Nashville police disclosed that months of investigation, led by Homicide Unit Detective Adam Reese and involving experts from the crime lab and Medical Examiner's Office, resulted in the murder indictment against Taylor. Their investigation concluded that Taylor had allegedly poisoned Benning in her own apartment, without her knowledge or consent.

Prior to joining Texas A&M, Taylor had been working in the pro scouting department for the Tennessee Titans. During the previous season, he served as a defensive analyst for Utah State. Taylor's hire as a defensive backs coach at Texas A&M was announced last week, completing a family connection as his father, Trooper Taylor, is already a running backs coach on the staff.

Blaise Taylor had a notable college football career at Arkansas State from 2014 to 2017. He earned recognition as a standout defensive back and punt returner, holding the school's all-time records for pass breakups and punt return yards.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the authorities aim to shed light on the tragic deaths of Jade Benning and her unborn child, and the alleged involvement of Blaise Taylor. It is a distressing situation that has sent shockwaves through the college football community, tarnishing the reputation of a promising young coach and casting a dark cloud over the sport.
