In an unexpected turn of events, the Florida State Seminoles, a top-ranked team, suffered a shocking loss to Georgia Tech in their Week 0 matchup held in Dublin, Ireland. This defeat has not only knocked the Seminoles down to No. 16 in the rankings but has also led to a significant decrease in their chances of winning the ACC title.

Having entered the season with high expectations, the Seminoles were considered strong contenders to repeat as ACC champions. However, their loss has drastically changed the landscape for them. According to ESPN's preseason FPI rankings, Florida State was ranked No. 11, just ahead of the Michigan Wolverines. With their current setback, the FPI model is projecting a challenging season for the Seminoles, with a predicted record of 7.5-4.7 and only a 9.5 percent chance of winning the ACC.

Although the college football landscape has been altered with the introduction of an expanded playoff format, it is clear that fortunes can change swiftly. The Seminoles' journey is far from over, but they will undoubtedly face an uphill battle in their quest to replicate the success of the previous season.

On the other hand, the Michigan Wolverines have seen a rise in their rankings following Florida State's defeat. With the Seminoles now standing at 0-1, the Wolverines have climbed to No. 11 in the rankings, amid a group of talented SEC teams. Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Missouri currently sit ahead of the Wolverines, with LSU and Texas A&M trailing closely behind.

The Week 0 games have also provided a slight boost to the Wolverines' chances of making it to the College Football Playoff. Their odds have increased from 28.6 percent to 29.5 percent, as per the FPI model. However, it predicts a challenging season for them as well, with a projected 8.3-3.9 record and a fourth-place finish in the Big Ten, behind Penn State, Ohio State, and Oregon.

Georgia Tech, the triumphant team that claimed victory over Florida State, has experienced a significant leap in the rankings. Soaring 17 spots, they now stand at No. 37 overall, just ahead of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Another noteworthy game took place between the SMU Mustangs and Nevada in Week 0, with SMU emerging as the winners in a nail-biting 29-24 contest. While they began the season ranked 25th, the Mustangs dropped five spots to 30th after their closely fought battle.

As the football season progresses, the FPI rankings are bound to undergo further changes. An exciting lineup awaits in Week 1, featuring highly anticipated clashes between powerhouse teams such as Clemson and Georgia, Miami and Florida, Notre Dame and Texas A&M, as well as USC and LSU. Only time will tell how these matchups will shape the rankings and the fate of the teams involved.
